The quoFEM application is a tool designed to advance the integration of uncertainty quantification and optimization in the field of natural hazards engineering. It enhances finite element applications with robust uncertainty quantification and optimization functionalities.
Version 4.2 includes backend upgrades that strengthen and streamline surrogate-aided Bayesian calibration workflows. This new method reduces the need for model evaluations to give large models impressive speedup. Computation time was reduced by 86% with this method in documented example 5.19.
It also adds sharing and reuse of job results on DesignSafe: you can share your job results with other users and access results shared with you—all directly in the app.
The Examples menu in the application adds a complete PM4Sand suite—sensitivity analysis, Bayesian calibration, and forward propagation of uncertainty—plus a new surrogate-aided Bayesian calibration of an RC column example. For details, see the Examples section of the quoFEM documentation for Examples 5.16 through 5.19. Together, these enhancements make it easier to run end-to-end UQ studies.
All SimCenter research applications are open-source and feature an integrated auto-citation generator. A two-page summary of each application and "how to cite" attributions are provided on each tool webpage.
