The Performance Based Engineering (PBE) application simulates the impact of a natural hazard event on a building or other structure. The impact is quantified in a probabilistic approach using the Pelicun damage and loss assessment engine.
Version 4.2 includes an update to Pelicun v3.5, the underlying SimCenter Damage and Loss Model Library, and adds the Hazus Capacity Spectrum Method for earthquake response estimation. Several damage and loss models from Hazus developed for portfolio-type studies and used in the R2D tool are now also available in PBE to support educational use. The capacity spectrum calculation is included to complement these models and provide a complete Hazus earthquake loss assessment workflow for individual buildings. Another major enhancement is the first release of the SimCenter Wind Component Library that collects models from the literature to simulate wind-pressure-induced damage in high resolution at the component level.
Download the updated release to take advantage of these features. A two-page summary of the application and "how to cite" attributions are provided on the PBE tool webpage. All SimCenter applications are open-source and feature an integrated auto-citation generator.
