SimCenter researchers participated in the 14th International Conference on Structural Safety and Reliability (ICOSSAR2025), Jun 1-6, 2025, at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. The conference is held every four years and organized by the International Association for Structural Safety and Reliability (IASSAR) which promotes the study, research, and applications of scientific principles of safety, risk and reliability in the analysis, design, construction, maintenance and operations of structures and other engineering systems.

SimCenter domain experts and personnel participated in the following areas:

  • Advisory Board: Jack Baker
  • Semi-plenary presentation: Michael Shields
  • Chairs of more than 7 conference sessions: Alexandros Taflanidis Seymour M.J. Spence, Dimitris Giovanis
  • Presenters or co-authors of presentations: Sang-ri Yi, Alexandros Taflanidis, Ertugrul Taciroglu, Seymour M.J. Spence, Michael Shields, Ahsan Kareem, Matthew DeJong, Joel Conte, Henry Burton, Jack Baker.

Selected presentations showcased features of SimCenter software tools. SimCenter personnel and domain experts are noted in italics, and presenters are noted with *.

  • I250072 “Assessing contingent business interruption due to natural hazards using regional recovery models.” Nikola Blagojevic*, Tinger Zhu, Jack Baker. The research used the R2D application, including pyrecodes software, for the assessment and regional recovery models.
  • I250093 “Adaptive Gaussian Process Surrogates for Accelerating Bayesian Calibration of Complex Numerical Models.” Alexandros Taflanidis, Aakash Bangalore Satish*, Sang-ri Yi, Joel Conte. This adaptive process improves computational efficiency and is being implemented in SimCenter’s quoFEM tool, which is integral to all of SimCenter’s research applications.
