The SimCenter participated in the 2023 NSF NHERI Wall of Wind (WOW) Experimental Facility (EF) User Workshop, “How to Incorporate EF Testing to Develop Compelling Proposals”. The in-person workshop was held at FIU on November 30-December 1, 2023. The purpose of the workshop was to provide participants with proposal development suggestions for obtaining NSF funding for natural hazards mitigation research and other basic science research. It provided information about the resources and services available at the NHERI WOW EF, and it was an opportunity for participants to discuss ideas on proposal development.
“WE-UQ Digital Twin: A CFD simulation tool to complement wind tunnel testing” was presented by Matt DeJong, SimCenter PI, and Abiy Melaku, SimCenter postdoctoral scholar and software developer. Prof. DeJong outlined SimCenter’s role in supporting researchers, and Dr. Melaku reviewed the features of the WE-UQ tool and how its application can be used to advance research in conjunction with experimental testing.
