The NHERI SimCenter is pleased to announce that Dr. Ajay Harish has joined the software development team. Dr. Harish received his Doctorate (Magna cum laude), in mechanical engineering from Leibniz University Hannover, Germany; M.S. in aeronautics from California Institute of Technology, Pasadena; and B. Tech in mechanical engineering from National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, India. His Ph.D. thesis topic was in micromechanics, fracture, and contact behavior of nanoparticle reinforced polymers. His research interests include variational approaches, numerical methods, machine learning, contact and impact mechanics.
Dr. Harish finds it exciting that the work being done at the SimCenter is highly interdisciplinary and combines ideas from engineering, mathematics and computer science. The SimCenter provides an opportunity to bring together knowledge of computational mechanics & numerical methods into software that can be used by researchers to understand natural hazards, and also by professionals and policy makers to mitigate damage.
