The NHERI SimCenter is pleased to announce that Dr. Ziad Ghauch has joined the software development team, where he will implement and incorporate state-of-the-art uncertainty quantification (UQ) methods to expand SimCenters software capabilities. Alex Taflanidis, SimCenters UQ thrust area lead, says that Dr. Ghauch will help implement the overall plan for UQ in SimCenter tools.
Dr. Ghauch received his Ph.D. in structural engineering from University of Southern California (USC), M.S. in civil engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and B.E. in civil engineering from Lebanese American University. His Ph.D. work was in performing holistic uncertainty management in fiber composites manufacturing within automotive applications. His research interests include uncertainty quantification, stochastic mechanics, high-performance scientific computing, multi-scale and multiphysics analysis, probabilistic modeling, and dimension reduction. Dr. Ghauch is excited to be part of the SimCenter development team because it is an amazing opportunity to implement UQ into a platform that is going to have an impact on real world problems and challenges from natural hazards.
